Some pretty amazing things happened this weekend... I got to play several old flutes (beginning of the 19th century) and old sets. Especially this Robert Reid double bore chanter. It felt like taming a wild horse with cross fingering and adjusting pressure, the works. An extremely special experience to play that chanter. It's part of a set of pipes that's equally special. It's the next item in the list...
What's beautiful to see is, except from the excellent craftmanship, that they didn't use any tubing in those days, but rolled their own ferrules. It doesn't really show in these pictures, but it does on the next page.
