Cobblestone gigs
This year's Belgian tionól was a great success as usual. The beer was good, the people were friendly and the weather was perfect. On Friday we had a lovely evening so we could enjoy the local beer La Chouffe on the terrace. Friday night's session went on until the wee hours and lots of us had quite some trouble to find the way back up to our rooms again, being disoriented by both the extreme darkness and the combination of La Chouffe and Guinness. The Saturday was a rainy day which was perfect because we spent all day inside at the lessons by Kevin Rowsome and the session. Kevin gave us some great tunes, amongst others a jig, an air, a hornpipe and another hornpipe (slow | fast).
Sunday morning we had lessons again and subsequently the weather wasn't too good, but later in the afternoon the sky cleared up for us to take a group picture on the terrace. After some farewells a small group remained for another night and we had a nice and quiet session with lots of talk and exchanging of tips and tricks in the evening.
Because we'd planned a walking trip on Monday morning the sun was shining brightly but it wasn't too hot and in the afternoon there came more clouds in the sky to obstruct the sun from heating up our cars during the trip home.
Two links of subjects we discussed during the weekend: transcribe, the absolutely wonderful program for slowing down tunes, changing pitch and whatever you want and finally Michael Burke's whistles, of which I brought a B and a C# whistle.
