Thanks Alan and Alan, Thomas and Ed for your suggestions! The piper here is Brendan, who plays a Brendan Ring set, but made the chanter himself as well as a lovely snakewood flute. He was the one who told me to be there on the Tuesday nights and I haven't regretted a minute of it. The Herschel Arms in Slough, on the Monday night. No problem, stools were removed and enough space created. It was strange how people reacted when I said I'd go to Slough, it was like saying I'd join a polar expedition.
