Even though the organisation WAS a bit chaotic with rescheduling the date AND our original guest piper cancelling less than a week before the tionol would start AND a flu roaming through Europe preventing a lot of people from coming, it still was a very nice event. A success, even!

Guest piper Leo Rickard proved to be an excellent guest at every point: personality, recital, lessons, interested in and helpful to answer any questions fired at him during the weekend. And his piping IS as good in real life as it is on the CD. Better even. Hard to believe, I know, but it's true.

Since I also joined the lessons myself there are less pictures than (and at that not as nice ones as) I would have liked, but... the last one of Folkert playing a very nice whistle is a picture I'm proud of...

Evertjan 't Hart surprised a lot of pipers with his expertise and generosity: almost every chanter with a not-so-good reed was expertly re-reeded by Evertjan at no charge which resulted in a lot of happy faces. He's being watched here by Arnoud Jespers.

Roger O'Keeffe helped us out by taking over the teaching of the beginners class while Leo was off teaching the intermediate and advanced classes. Here Roger is getting his shot of knowledge: a private lesson on the regulators. It must be mentioned that Roger O'Keeffe and Roger de Wouters, both organisors of the great Belgian tionól, were a great help behind the scenes of the Dutch tionól as well. Again: THANK YOU Roger and Roger!!!

Behind the door, in the other room, a singing session emerged out of nowhere. Great stuff, with Raphael de Cock (sean nós!), James Faulkner and Thirza Mulder. Between the songs slow airs were played on the pipes, flute and low whistle, accompanied by the guitar.

Evertjan making reeds again, this time for James Faulkner. We met James in Drumshanbo earlier this year and it was great to have him at the tionól: he's a great piper, guitar player, singer and story teller. Plus, he came all the way from Barcelona! Thank you Jim!!!

Now, isn't this a beauty. I mean, the picture :-)
